Why you should choose to invest in personal security (again)
Developing, maintaining and updating the security awareness of personnel can enhance their readiness and preparation for deployment or travels to hostile environments. Investing in the preparation of personnel deployed abroad is a fundamental step for preventing and mitigating security incidents and for the duty of care of sending entities.
It is important to make sure that the staff is always updated on the new threats and maintains a high level of attention after years of work in hostile environments. Security awareness can indeed fade over time and even working in high-risk environments can become routine. There is the risk to fall into the survivor bias, adopting wrong behaviours on the assumption that they might be effective just because there have not been security incidents. In addition, knowledge and skills need to be periodically “refreshed” to remain effective.
Course description
HEAT Refresher is a 3-day immersive security training designed to refresh and update the knowledge, skills and attitude of those participants that have been working in medium and high-risk countries for a long period of time. It targets personnel that has already attended a full HEAT course 3-4 years before the Refresher takes place.
The course aims at enhancing participants’ security and safety awareness and enabling them to prevent and deal more effectively with risks, challenging situations and security incidents while travelling or working in hostile environments. Participants practice and rehearse different types of scenario-based exercises individually and in team, on the basis of the realistic and original immersive scenario we have specially created for our security sector.
