End date: 22 Oct 2021
Registration deadline: 31 Aug 2021

The Alliance for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action (the Alliance) is organizing the 2021 Annual Meeting on Child Protection in Humanitarian Action over a virtual platform from the 4th to 8h of October 2021. This includes 5 half-days dedicated to the theme of the annual meeting: Preventing Harm to Children.

There will also be a special session about Climate Change and Child Protection during the week.

The Annual Meeting is an opportunity for humanitarian actors to come together and exchange knowledge and experience, while networking with other agencies, academics, policy makers and donors. The annual meeting represents a forum where important themes can be discussed and ways forward can be developed.

If you are a humanitarian worker, policy maker, donor or researcher interested in issues related to protection of children in humanitarian action, you are welcome to join us. Please register using this online form by 1st of August 2021.

Children are engaged in a dynamic process of development, which is adversely impacted by humanitarian crises. Thus, the ultimate goal of any child protection humanitarian intervention is to promote the healthy development and well-being of children by preventing and responding to abuse, neglect, exploitation and violence against children in humanitarian and fragile contexts.

This year’s theme, Preventing Harm to Children, was selected to explore the lessons learnt, promising practices and innovative approaches to preventing harm to children in humanitarian contexts. The meeting will focus in particular on primary prevention approaches that address risk and protective factors that negatively impact children in humanitarian settings. Examples of prevention programming in emergencies from other sectors are also solicited to share learning and create connections across sectors. To familiarize yourself with the work the Alliance has been doing on prevention, please visit our webpage.

The Alliance is inviting Child Protection and other sector actors, researchers, policy makers, and donors to share their experience, successes, failures and groundbreaking ideas at the 2021 Annual Meeting. We are accepting abstracts that cover research, programming models, and lessons learned on prevention. We encourage examples that highlight work across sectors and across the humanitarian and development settings.

How to register:

If you intend to also submit an abstract, please complete this abstract submission form and submit it either through the registration form or by emailing it to annualmeeting2021@alliancecpha.org by 1st of August 2021.

If you are not submitting an abstract registrations will stay open beyond August 1st.
