METIS is pleased to offer a new range of online hostile environment field security training for field staff working across the full range of humanitarian, journalist, investigation, NGO, and international organisations. The foundation security course is designed to give a solid grounding in the security concepts and tools that are fundamental to the security of field staff operating predominantly alone and without dedicated organisational security support. Modules include introductions to risk management, security mindsets, reading environments, situational awareness, strategies, and tools etc. The course is deliberately spread over 5 half days to better enable participant professional work / training balance; and to ensure trainee focus and retention of core modules.

An optional but recommended advanced course is also available from METIS in applied security in the field. This course will be run following the foundation security course and is aimed at all graduates of the foundation course and field staff already with a solid grasp of security concepts. The applied course includes expert advice on security areas such as surveillance detection; personal digital security, advanced physical security threats including IEDs, Actions under fire, Conduct after capture etc. As with the foundation course the modules are run over 5 half days.

Instructors for the course are European based METIS trainers with an impressive collective security experience based across security and intelligence fields deployed internationally within Gov, EU, UN, Military, and Investigative areas. Direct recent field security experience within conflict areas includes Iraq, Afghanistan, Mali, S Sudan, Nigeria, Gaza, Somalia, Myanmar. Field experience is complemented by extensive trainer experience guiding personnel in international security from NGO, Journalism, War crimes investigators, UN, EU, diplomats, military and police sectors.
